NEW TRENDS IN RECYCLING

Recycling is the process of collecting and transforming waste or discarded materials into new materials or products for reuse.

The quest to cut costs and the need to adjust to new EU waste recycling regulations are the reasons behind the boom in recycled powder, and here, as in all other fields, we find gurus who promise unaltered quality and efficiency coupled with care for the planet.

The fact is that recycled is not always cheaper, due to the high costs of collection, analysis, sorting, treatment, packaging and re-shipment, which exceed those of the original new product. Questions arise as to what the resulting product will be, or who will guarantee the percentage of MAP content, while bearing in mind that powder is currently consumed in Europe with different percentages and from different origins.

Recycling is here to stay and it would be absurd to deny it, but we must be consistent, and needless to say: fire extinguishers and powder are designed to protect both material and human property.

We must therefore overcome an ongoing issue in the fire-fighting sector by allowing disused powder to be transformed into fertiliser, which can then be reused as a raw material for producing ABC extinguishing powder. It is the only valid option, which allows us to maintain the required quality standards, control parameters and MAP percentage and, of course, the efficiency of fire extinguishers.
